To take my mind off the chaos...

Today has been chaotic with the house stuff. So I saw this MeMe on this blog and thought it would help to take my mind off it for a while! These are so mind numbing and its nice to only have to focus only on the answers to this, even if it is short lived!

Tuesday tidbits

So I copied the title from this blog, but I liked it and thought it was catchy! Annie, I'll send you the royalties! Anyway. We're back from the lake! We all survived, despite a few traumatic events for the girls! We had a great time and Cory and I have decided that will most likely be the place we retreat after he returns from A-stan. On that note, we've recieved official word (in writing) that Cory will deploy shortly after July 4th. Its all becoming real and I don't like it. Please say a prayer for him as this week will be hard as he begins to say goodbye to family and friends.
In housing news, our mortgage guy (bless his heart) told us Friday that our paperwork was with the underwriter so we should hear any day now. He has worked really hard for us and I am grateful that God has sent him to us!
In baby news, Gma and Big Daddy-the inlaws (those names will most likely change as Reese begins to talk) got to keep little man ALL night last night. I know this is a shocker for those who have heard how our (mine and the inlaws) relationship started. We've come a long way, and this was just another olive branch for me to extend. We dropped him by on the way home from the lake, yesterday. I only cried once last night. Cory and I got to go out to eat, to a movie (What happens in Vegas - a must see) AND to get ice cream at Marble Slab - yum! It was such a great time. And the perfect ending to a perfect night, I got to sleep ALL NIGHT and didn't get up until 9am this morning!
Today we plan to spend some time with just the girls. They have been so good about understanding that the baby takes more attention and have been real troopers! So today we are going to the ZOO!!! We love zoos! They are so excited! Then tonight we will meet the inlaws to pick up little man and eat dinner!
This is our last full week here in SC before we head back to TX. We plan to spend time with family and friends, allowing Cory to say goodbye and eat all the foods he loves the most! Forgive me if I do not post much, I'm sure you understand!

On a memorial note- Thank you to all the men and women who have served and continue to serve our country in the military! Your sacrifices often go unspoken, but for me - are never forgotten! And to the families of those same service men and women, thank you for your sacrifices! Without you, there would be no them! God bless you all!

Change is good!

Yesterday I underwent a MAJOR change in my appearance! I cut 11 inches off my hair! Yes, 11!!! I cried, yes (I will NEVER make fun of those who cry when getting their hair cut again! I can't post pictures because I left my cable in Texas. But its cute; I like it! Its different. We're headed to the lake for the weekend! Still no word on the house, hopefully soon! Have a great Memorial Day! Be sure to thank a service member and give them a hug!

Home is where my heart is!

We made it to SC safely! We actually went to the lake on Saturday because my parents and brother (along with his family) were there. After 18 + hours in the car with Reese, I was ready to buy an airplane - just so I NEVER had to do that again. Our trip usually takes us around 17 hours, but John (my dad) decided to bring us to the lake a different way - through the middle of NOWHERE! I stopped counting the hours once we reached the 18 mark. Anywho. We made it. Sunday we headed to Starr (Cory's old stomping ground) to visit with his parents for the day. Now we are back in the best town ever!!! I LOVE IT HERE! Everytime I go away and come back, I love it a little more.
Yesterday we headed over to Mamie's to visit and then out to Old Mexican (as the girls call it) for dinner. We got an interesting phone call from Cory's "boss" (I guess that's what he'd be considered). I'm not going into details because I am unsure of how classified it is. But rest assured - once you hear the story, you'll see why he (Cory) is the perfect man for me! We're always stirring up some sort of trouble!
So that's it for now. I hope to get my battery charged in my camera so that I can start taking TONS of pictures! I'm off to be lazy for a little while before the girls and Cory get up and we're off for some more fun!

PS Please send up a prayer for our house situation as its getting down to the wire and we seem to have gotten nowhere!

13 pics for Thursday

I've been a slacker with blogging and posting pics lately. We've got a lot going on, so I've been SUPER busy! Anyway. Here are some pics to catch you up with what's been going on!Enjoy and hopefully I'll see most of you soon!

I am proud to say that Reese is sleeping through most of the night! Not all night, consistently! But we're getting there!
Not a great pic, but here are my three growing babies!
If you missed the pic on the side of my blog, Reese has learned to smile and laugh out loud! Its so cute!

I am proud to announce that Sam & Hailey have officially conquered there fear of mascots! Disney World, here we come!!!
Hailey & Sam on Field Day '08. They won the Tug of War and something with an egg (not the traditional egg toss). Of course they had to sport their Clemson shirts. Everyone kept asking, "What's that?"
My Mother's Day loot! The girls made me flowers with the things they love about me on the petals, they watercolored a flower (watch out Picasso) and gave me a beautiful poem. They also got me a beautiful ring. Pictures do not do it justice. You have to see it in person! (Thanks, honey).
Not a very good pic, but definitely a picture worthy moment - Cory and I got to go on our first date since Dec (our anniversary). Cory took me to Red Lobster for Mothers Day and even had a babysitters for the kids - thanks Zach and Brittany!
Reese has discovered his fingers. He LOVES to chew on them; bad thing is that he sticks them so far in his mouth that he gags himself and usually throws up. Should I be concerned?

Here is how Reese spends most of his time when Daddy's home! So sweet
Reese ready to go to the Month of the Military Child (MOMC) festival here at Fort Hood! Reminds me of a young Steve Erwin, lol!!!
Samantha got a Dolphin painted on her face at the MOMC festival.
Hailey got a flag, so patriotic!!
See how thrilled they are with Superman and Wonderwoman at MOMC festival. They thought they were cheesy. I guess this is more my era, not theres!

My most favorite mother!

All this week on the Today show, they've had a competition for America's Favorite Mother. They have highlighted 3 different mothers everyday from different walks of life. They've had military moms, single moms, working moms, moms who have gone above and beyond (I think we've all done that), and COE (chief of everything) moms. I've enjoyed seeing these mothers all week and I love that the show has really dedicated a lot of time this week to ALL mothers!
I wanted to take a minute and tell you about my most favorite mom! She's mine, duh! My mom means so much to me. I am sad to say I probably took her for granted for far too long, but now I appreciate her more than she will EVER know! She is one of my closest friends, my protector (still), my shoulder to cry on (even if it is over the phone), we have the same sense of humor, my rock when I feel like I'm sinking, my biggest cheerleader and supporter, my human address book, and my very own problem solver (as she usually has a clearer head than I do). She's all these things and so much more. I remember Mother's Day 2001 when I told her I was pregnant (I know, what a horrible Mother's day gift) - she didn't yell or tell me what a horrible person I was, no - she sat and cried with me. And after she and I (and Brian) sat and cried for what seemed like forever, she brushed my tears away and began to think about what needed to be done to make the best of the situation. She held my hand while I told John (the hardest conversation I've EVER had with ANYONE) and encouraged me to continue to follow my heart and dreams. She showed me that having a baby (at the time we had no clue it was 2) wasn't the end of the world, it was just the beginning of an even better life ahead. She took care of me during my very difficult pregnancy. She held my hand in the operating room when the girls were delivered and never left my side in the hospital - she went with me every two hours to feed the girls in the NICU and help me with them at night when they could finally come to my room. She* took shifts caring for the girls when we came home. She* put her life on hold for 5 years while I finished school, worked and hunted for my soul mate. She has prayed for me throughout my life and continues to do so daily, I'm certain.
When I came home with my diamond from Cory, she was so happy. And when I told her that he was going Active Duty Army and that meant that we would have to move somewhere, she supported our decision (even if it meant I was taking HER grandbabies away). When I told her that Cory and I were moving up our wedding date and it was only 2 weeks away, she offered to help me plan a church wedding so we didn't have to go to the court house. She wouldn't let me settle for a dress just because I was tired of trying them on, she encouraged me to keep looking and I found my dream dress. She helped me plan my wedding in less that two weeks and sat there proudly as I married the man of my dreams (despite the best efforts of some). She cried when we left last May to begin our journey here in Texas, but supported us unconditionally! SHe cared for the girls while we setteled in here and flew with them and left them here although I know it was probably as hard as seeing me leave. She flew to Texas when Reese was born and took care of EVERYTHING while she was here so I could recover. She is more than a Grandmother to my kids, she is like their second mother. She continues to give selflessly to her family daily. I know she is proud of me and even if I don't say it enough- I am proud of her. I know she will be one of my biggest supporters (as always) while Cory is away.
My mother has taught me about Jesus, how to be a mom (though I will never be as good as her), how to love unconditionally, how to follow my dreams, how to overcome what seems to be impossible, how to be a wife, how to be a friend, how to forgive and so much more. She came to EVERY activity I was involved in. She has traveled from coast to coast to be a part of things I was involved in. She has loved me unconditionally, though at times I know I was unlovable. She helped me through my high school years, boy was that tough?!? She continues to pick me up and brush me off when I've fallen, just as she did when I was a kid (though now its more emotionally than physically). She has supported me through all my journeys, and has held my hand through good and bad times! I am truly the luckiest person in the world to have her as my mother and my kids will want for nothing (physically or emotionally) as she is the most giving person I know!
I could go on and on for days about everything she has done for me and taught me. And though I can't give her $70,000 (that's what the winner of the Today show contest wins), I can give her my neverending friendship, love, & support, three of the cutest Grandkids on earth who adore her, a shoulder to cry on, a soundingboard to vent to and a legacy that will live on in me and my kids even after she is gone (many years from now). I also promise to NEVER put her in a nursing home, and even if I don't care for her personally on a daily basis (I don't know if I have the patience for that), I will provide a pool (with swimmies of course), a home for her and John, all the manicures and pedicures she can stand, and trips to have her hair done and the best round the clock care money can buy when she is unable to care for herself!
I love you MOM! I could never Thank you enough for everything you have done for me and my family! You are the GREATEST MOM in the world! Even though I am 1000 miles away, please know you are in my heart and I miss you dearly. This Mother's Day is the hardest for me as I am unable to spend it with you, my most favorite mother! Thank you for never giving up on me, supporting me though I know it ripped your heart into shreds sometimes, for holding my hand, for wiping away my tears, for loving me through the good times and bad, for being my role model, for defending me , for protecting me and loving me patiently as I figured out who I am. You mean the world to me and you will always be my most favorite mom!!!!!!! Happy Mothers Day! (I know I'm early - but I wanted to share my thoughts today while I had the time)

*I don't want it to be forgotten that John, my stepdad has done most of these things as well as my mom, but its mother's day - this post is for Mom! Your's is coming soon, John!!!

And the countdown begins...

Hopefully by next weekend, we will be back in the lovely state of SC. We look forward to spending almost 3 weeks back home. Cory has to fly to Houston on the 21 and 22 for a class for the Army, but other than that, we plan on taking in all the pollen and humidity that we can stand. The time home will probably consist of everything that Cory wants to see and do as this will be his last trip home for a while. With any luck, we'll be able to spend some time alone since we will miss both our birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, our 2 year anniversary, New years AND Valentine's Day. (babysitting anyone?LOL). Although we know this trip signifies us being one more step closer to Cory's deployment, we look forward to seeing everyone and being where we know we belong!!! Please continue to pray for our family as we'll be leaving the girls in SC when we come back to TX in June - this is going to be tough on them and us (especially Cory). Please also pray for our safe travels as we will be driving!!! Can't wait to see you guys!!!!
